- Mayor Trevor Dickson. Real history: Impact was incorporated in 1960/62 specifically as the only 'wet' (alcohol-legal) town in then-dry Taylor County, founded by Dallas Perkins (its first mayor) on his family's poultry farm; Abilene lawyers sued to block the incorporation, and the Texas Supreme Court upheld it in 1963. Liquor sales began December 22, 1962. When Abilene itself went wet via local option in the late 1970s, Impact lost its original reason for existing and became a de facto Abilene suburb.
