Local Government in Kansas

Kansas doesn’t have county-by-county Local Wiki records yet. Here’s a general orientation to how local government works there, and where to look for more.

Kansas counties are governed by an elected Board of County Commissioners that combines legislative and executive/administrative authority — setting policy, adopting budgets, and overseeing county operations. Board size varies by county (commonly three, sometimes five or seven members in larger counties), but the underlying form is uniform statewide. For a meeting or records request, contact the county commissioners' office or county clerk.
