Mayor & Board of Aldermen

Independent city (not part of any county). Governed under a municipal charter by an elected Mayor and a 15-member Board of Aldermen (14 ward alderpersons + 1 citywide Board President), reduced from 28 wards by voter-approved 2012 charter reform effective with the 2023 elections. Mayor: Cara Spencer, sworn in April 15, 2025 after defeating incumbent Tishaura Jones. Board President: Megan Green.
